So I finally got my computer hooked up at home.
It wasn’t that I didn’t have a connection — hell, Comcast was out here Tuesday. But you see, I have a little trouble keeping track of certain important CDs.
In this case, it is the drivers CD for my motherboard. You see, it has onboard dual LAN, which XP doesn’t recognize without the drivers on the CD. Anyways, I took care of that issue and I’m back online.
Before, my computer sat useless for about a year because I’d lost the damn XP CD during a move. This time I took the XP CD with my on the airplane so I wouldn’t lose it.
It’s been an interesting experience so far. A few observations:
1) People here can’t drive. It’s not the speed — they’re just crazy.
2) The weather at night is great. I’m told it really kicks ass here in about two weeks.
3) Work is great. They put me to work right away on some great stuff — and we don’t have to worry about some of the things that bogged me down before, such as Intranet maintenance.
4) There’s no good Mexican places.
5) There’s no Taco Bueno.
6) There’s no Braum’s.
7) Me gusta comida de cubano.
More later.

Welcome to life post-Bueno. It’s a sad, sad place. Mmmmm…. Cuban food. I don’t think I’ve ever really had Cuban food though. I’ve had Puerto Rican food, all Caribbean-like. Tell us about the Cuban food, Ryan!

I’m planning a trip down to Little Havana in Miami soon. There’s a landmark place you’re supposed to try. I almost went down there yesterday, but didn’t want to spend the money on gas.
